The system has a well rounded offering of academics (including vocational), athletics, bands, club activities, a student run bank at the high school, a technical lab, a strong FCA chapter, a mentoring program, advanced placement courses, family resources in each school, and much, much more. Bottom line: We are serious about education!

Higher Education

Jackson State Community College – Humboldt Center is centrally located in Gibson County and provides higher educational opportunities to not only Gibson County, but also northern Madison County, which are both affordable and convenient. Jackson State Community CollegeTennessee Technology Center of JacksonThe University of Tennessee at Martin and The University of Memphis have come together to offer: Certification in technical areas, Associate Degrees, Bachelor Degrees, Medical courses and much more.

The University of Tennessee at Martin is approximately 40 miles from Humboldt. A State Community College, a business college, and three four-year colleges are located in Jackson (15 miles). Memphis (83 miles west) has 14 colleges and universities, nine business schools, and 21 technical schools. There is a Tennessee Technology Center located in Jackson (15 miles). Other colleges and universities are located throughout West Tennessee. Dyersburg State Community College has a satellite campus in Trenton (12 miles). The Ned R. McWherter Center for Advanced Technologies, located at Jackson State Community College, provides training on the most modern equipment available. Many area industries have developed a close working relationship with this Center.

K-12 Education

Approximately 1400 students attend the four schools in the Humboldt City School District: Stigall Primary School (PK-1), East Elementary School (2-5), Humboldt Middle School (6-8) and Humboldt High School (9-12).

Humboldt City School systems has school safety in mind at all times for all students – it is our goal to insure that all students will have a safe environment that is conducive to learning.

  • Stigall Montessori offers an authentic Montessori education, serving children ages 3-6 years old. It’s one of the few public Montessori classes.

  • A district professional development plan addresses: – research-based instructional practices/strategies – curriculum and assessment – transforming schools through systemic reform

Healthcare

Don’t let our small town atmosphere fool you, Humboldt is home to a wide array of top quality healthcare facilities. From pediatrics to geriatrics, urgent care to skin care – Humboldt has facilities to care for your entire family’s needs.

Humboldt Medical Center – a West Tennessee Healthcare facility – serves Humboldt, north Madison County and beyond. The Emergency Department at Humboldt Medical Center is staffed by a team of eight board-certified doctors. CT, Ultrasound, Lab and X-Ray are available on-site. Digital image transmission and medical records are integrated with Jackson-Madison County General Hospital for a seamless process when needed.Outpatient physical therapy and aquatic physical therapy are also offered by Sports Plus Rehab Centers at Humboldt Medical Center. The facility also boasts a large conference center that accommodates up to 400 people for community events, training, etc.

Within fifteen minutes of Humboldt is located one of the largest medical centers in the south – West Tennessee Healthcare, including Jackson Madison County General Hospital. Services available include Cardiac Surgery & Rehab, Neurological Surgery & Rehab, Cardiac Catherization, Behavior Health Services, Pediatric and Adult Intensive Care, Pulmonary Rehab, MRI, Skilled Nursing, Sports Medicine and the Kirkland Cancer Center.

These physicians are supported by state-of-the-art technology including: Laboratory, Radiology (Ultrasound, CatScan, Dexascan, Bone Densitometry, Nuclear Medicine, Magnetic Resonance Imaging, and Mammography), Stereotactic Biopsy, Pulmonary Function Analysis, Arterial Blood Gases, Electrocardiography and Vascular Ultrasound.

At Royal Care Clinic, Festus Arinze, MD and Shanea Hines, FNP pride themselves ourselves in getting patients in quickly and working within their schedules all while providing top notch individual care. Services include adult annual wellness exams, well child exams, sports physicals, and employment physicals.

Providing exceptional medical care that compassionately supports children from birth to 21 years of age, Rainbow Pediatrics opened its doors in 2006 and is the only pediatric exclusive office located in Humboldt Tennessee. They offer a wide variety of services including managing acute and chronic medical illnesses as well as providing routine and preventative care such as routine physicals, sports/camp physicals and immunizations.

Dermatology and Skin Cancer Consultants specializes in comprehensive medical, surgical and cosmetic care of adult and pediatric skin, hair and nails. Some of the services offered include: Mohs Micrographic Surgery, Preventive Skin Exam and Mole Check, Minimally Invasive Skin Surgery, Botox for Wrinkles, Fillers for Lines & Wrinkles, Chemical Peels, Photodynamic therapy for sun damaged skin and Patch Testing for Allergic Skin Conditions.

We’re also pleased to have two walk-in clinics available for family care – Fast Pace Urgent Care and Humboldt Medical Clinic.

Humboldt is home to the Tennessee State Veterans Home and over 400 nursing home beds, as well as Home Health & Hospice care. Plus, just 15 minutes from Humboldt, are over 300 rooms for Assisted Living that are available to the community.
